FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) — Lockett Meadow outside Flagstaff is a popular place to view aspen stands as the leaves turn a golden yellow.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) — Lockett Meadow outside Flagstaff is a popular place to view aspen stands as the leaves turn a golden yellow.

But forest officials say the narrow road along a steep cliff used to access the inner basin of the San Francisco Peaks isn’t safe for huge crowds.

The Coconino National Forest plans to have personnel stationed at the bottom of the road over the next two weekends and allow 50 vehicles in at a time.

The vehicle limit doesn’t apply to people camping at Lockett Meadow.

The forest also is encouraging people to view fall colors elsewhere in the forest.
